Corvallis Knights game....

I am a little slow posting this, but, oh well......

Last Friday we had tickets to the Corvallis Knights games (always enjoy going to those and the kids like it to). Evidently our baseball coach contacted the Knights and let me know we were coming. He also told them about the baseball team taking 2nd in state in their division, yada yada.

WELLLLLLL, our boys that were there were taken on the field for the 7th inning stretch and singing of Take me out the ballgame. Our boys were leading the song. It was awesome. They also announced it over the loudspeaker and put the team picture up on the score board with the coaches names
(not sure why my pictures didn't turn out better, but atleast I have some). It was very cool for the boys and very good representation for Lebanon.

Because Drake was on the end, the guy put the microphone in front of him first, he wasn't too sure about that!
ANNDDD the Knights won the game that night!

~~Gone Fishing~~

Isn't funny how sometimes the spur of the moments trips/adventures are some of the funnest........

Not sure how it started, but suddenly last the week Gunner was all over going fishing at the coast. He was checking out the weather and the ocean and the tides and having Mark take daily reports to Nick. I guess Nick liked what he in regards to the ocean, so they planned a fishing trip. It went from being a day trip, to Mark and Gunner sleeping the pickup (with the canopy) to "why the hell not", all of us going and taking the trailer.

We knew we couldn't leave until Saturday morning because we had tickets to the Knight's game (that was fun and awesome, have to have another post to talk about that!). So butt crack of dawn on Saturday, yes that is a time, atleast on my clock! We get up, fill the trailer with water, stop at Safeway for milk, pop, beer and ice (yeap, no food :D) and headed over. Originally Nick was supposed to go over Friday and save a spot for us, but that didn't work out so well. Besides, he says, the parking lot at the marina should not be full, Halibut opens next weekend! HAHAHAHA, we come across the bridge at 9:00 A.M. and HOLY COW, I have NEVER seen the parking lot soo full and have never seen so may boat trailers. They were parked EVERYWHERE and I mean everywhere! We pull thru the parking lot and THANK GOD for my Mark's awesome backing abilities! He got us in a spot that was long enough and then we were even able to save a spot for Nick, right across from us.

Mark and the boys take off to check out the fish coming in, as we were now waiting for Nick (long story there) and I see Mark coming back with someone. Well Jeff and Cheryl were parked about 5 spots down from us. We had a nice visit with them. Finally Nick shows up and off they go. Well, it was absolutely beautiful over there and it decided it was Ok for Drake to go out (in the ocean), so away they went. They all caught some fish. Drake (who has a new friend "Ralph" :D), even caught 3 sea bass one line at one time, he was pretty stoked. Not sure how many fish they caught, but they caught some sea bass and ling cod. Drake enjoyed it, but he was pretty happy to see land. Gunner, well, Gunner wanted to know what time they were going on Sunday....... (this is just a couple of what they caught).

Sunday morning woke up was kinda foggy, overcast and the wind was blowing. The boys were trying to decide if they wanted to go fishing or crabbing. Finally decided to go fishing. While they were getting ready, Raymond came over and asked if anyone wanted to go on a boat ride. Well, I jumped all over that one, even though it was the big bad ocean, they were only going out to pick up crab pots, quick trip. I didn't think Drake would wnat to go after Saturday, but he did.
It was fun, the ocean wasn't too bad, Drake enjoyed it, he got to help Jeff as Jeff pull crab pots. It was a fun boat ride.
Mark, Gunner and Nick ended up not coming in until almost 5, they limited it out on Sea Bass (so we had almost at hour at the fish cleaning station, UGH). We ended up with about 25 lbs of fish from the weekend. Not too shabby for a spur of the moment trip.

Alas, it was time to come home, the sun was on the horizon and the weekend was over. I, thankfully, was wearing my big girl panties (get your mind out of the gutters and yes I was wearing some Nichole!) and drove home.......towing trailer.......from the coast.....OY!! (I'm a big girl now :D) and all the way home, the boys were commenting on what a fun weekend it was and how much they enjoyed. Case in point, sometimes spur of the moment is the best way to go.

I SURVIVED!!!

Fair is over, Baseball is over, Vacation can begin.........

Gunner is all done with fair, piggie is back to the Land Lab, need to deal with her when we get back from vacation. Gunner is really tired, but it was a good experience and he had fun. He also ended up taking 7th in Livestock judging, but honestly, don't know what that really means.

Drake's baseball team ended up in 2nd Place, we lost to Battleground, WA. So we took 2nd in the tourney, but we are sticking with, #1 in the State of Oregon. We figured Drake caught about 48 innings in 4 days. That's alot of baseball!! Our team was also awarded the Sportsmanship Trophy. Quite Frankly I am almost more proud of that than the 2nd place trophy, that shows alot of heart and integrity from our boys. (It was voted on by the umpires, JBO officials and the Keizer people who hosted the tourney).

Busy, Busy weekend, but a good one. I know I need to post pics and I have ALOT (gave Missy one of my cameras :D) of pictures, but I am kinda dragging butt at the moment, so it might have to wait until after vacation.............

OH MY GOD....

Someone has been seriously praying to the baseball gods!! Drake's team won both games today (2-1 over McKay, THAT was sweet! and 8-2 over West Linn). We play again tomorrow at 10:00, if we win, we play in the championship game. The awesome thing is, we are the ONLY Oregon team left in the tournament. We play Camas, WA in the morning and Battleground, WA, is already in the championship. Let's keep things a rolling!!

Quick Update, and sorry no pictures yet, not time......


Gunner had showmanship last night at the Fair for his pig and I was able to be there. I was really nervous for him, especially after I saw the first class go, it is some pretty serious stuff. It was kinda comical when all the pigs run in the ring, they kinda spaz out. One came in and there is not alot of traction and he kinds "spun out/wiped out" in front of the judge. Another pig came in and wiped out one of the younger boys in the class, knocked him flat to the ground. I felt bad for him, but he jumped up and the judge helped brush the sawdust off. Gunner did really good, the judge was watching him alot. He ended up taking 3rd (out of 7) which was awesome. He needed a little more "tenacity", per the judge, but there was not much difference between 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. I thought for his first time, he should be really proud, I was!!!

Drake's baseball team won at noon yesterday, 7-0 and then played again at 6:00 and beat Sherwood 18-9. I guess it was a really good game and our team hit 5 home runs. Drake had a couple base hits, which resulted in RBI's, will take those all day! Very Very,VERY proud of the boys!! We play again at noon today in Keizer and if win, play at 6:00 tonight.

A Day in My Life......

I got woke up this morning by Mark kicking my leg telling me it is 5:00 A.M., Really, Already!! I jsut went to sleep......ARGHH

SO, rolled out of bed, pulled on the clothes I wore yesterday (later when I got home, realized my shirt was on inside out OOPS!!), and woke up Gunner. He groggily got out of bed and we headed for the Fairgrounds in Albany, he had to be there by 6:00 A.M., yes I said AM, did you know the sun is out at that time?.......

Got him dropped off and headed back to Lebanon, I knew we were heading for Salem and had to go get gas in the car. Did you know that. even at Safeway, at 6:30 in the morning, when you fill your tank, they won't wash your windows. Whats up with that? What happened to customer service??? SHEESH!!! N-E-Ways, tank full, headed for home.

Mark and Drake were still in bed, so had about 20 minutes of peace and quiet, so I finished my book so I could take it to Lisa and then headed for the shower.

After my shower I was walking out the door at 7:45 A.M. (Yes, I had the day off, this is a vacation day, WHAT WAS I THINKING!!!!) Headed to the concession stand at Bob Smith. Silly me volunteered to open it up and get things started and set up this morning AND to work it until we had to leave for Keizer.....Thank You Tina C. for having the same Starbucks habit I have and bringing me one, you are a lifesaver!

Left Bob Smith at 9:45, yes still morning....and we headed up to Keizer. Drake's first game was at Noon, they won 12-8. Left the field and had about 3 hours to kill. Went and ate lunch and then went driving thru Salem looking for a barber, Mark and Drake decided they needed haircuts. Found this little hole in the wall barber shop and got that taken care (looks pretty good too!)

Headed back to Keizer, had a 6:00 P.M. game and had to be there at 5:00, HOLY MOTHER OF PEARL, it was hot out there!! Felt bad for the boys, especially when Drake took a wiffle ball in the nose and ended up with a bloody nose. We lost that game 2-4, but it was a good game and it is possible that other team could be there until the end. (Drake got a base hit and stole home on a passed ball YEAH DRAKE - He plays tomorrow at Noon and if win,then again at 6:00 P.M. again.

While all this was going on, Gunner was at the fairgrounds with pig detail. He showed her at 6:00 P.M. and took 4th place Blue (out of 12 and not sure what blue means). I am really, really proud of him. His pig did not make weight, so she can't be auctioned, but he still needed to show her and he did good!! (he shows again tomorrow at 6:00 p.m. at Linn County Fair) He has to be up and back at the fairgrounds by 6 tomorrow morning (wow six must be lucky everything is happening at 6 in the morning or 6 at night, ok I digress!) Since we didn't know when we would be home or play tomorrow, he is at Grandma H's tonight (THANK YOU GRANDMA H for your help!! Appreciate it)

Back on track here.........After stopping at DQ for Blizzards (and chicken strips for Drake), we pull in our driveway at 9:00 P.M. Just in time to wash baseball gear and head to bed so we can do it all over again tomorrow!!!

I don't have any pics on this post, I am tired, going to bed and don't feel like looking for any, BUT I would NOT trade it for anything, love my boys!!!!! and sometime in the next week or so, I will post some pics, right now just trying to get thru the weekend!!

On that note, Think cool thoughts, happy pig showing mojo and pray to the baseball gods!!!!!!!
