~Happy Mother's Day~

This may be a long post, this is what happens when you don't update very often (Ok, don't have time to update very often!)

First I want to say Happy Mother's Day to one and all!! Hope it is a good one!

My weekend did not start out so good. We are on our 4th tournament weekend in a row for Drake and when the weather has cooperated, we have had games thru the week for Gunner. Further more, I must have pissed off Karma again, because man oh man, last week was a bitch!!

Started off with, we were in Medford last weekend, things did not go well, not even going to post info about it. I took Monday off thinking we would get home late from the tourne and my plan was to work on the quilts for the wedding (Oh darn, the pic still didn't work Michelle!) Well, the quilts are too big for my frame and then to make the frame bigger, well, I don't have enough room in my house. So, needless to say, the weddings are next weekend and I still do not have the quilts done.........hmmmm, PROBLEM!!! (Still working on solution!)

So, back to work on Tuesday and things just progressed downhill from there cumulating in a MAJOR mommy meltdown on Thursday night (Not worth posting details). Friday was going to be hectic, Mark's sister and her husband were coming in from Missouri to visit his mom. Gunner had a game at Crescent Valley and Mark was planning on going because he has not seen hardly any of Gunner's games (They ended up losing in the bottom of the 9th by 1, we usually play 7. Gunner had a good game, made a nice tag at 2nd, it was sweet!) ("Oh, no, you are not going to steal 3rd!!", not from Friday, but still a game pic of G).

Well, Drake had to go to the Varsity game, mandatory, so we were playing the kid shuffle and ended up with 2 cars in Corvallis. End of the game, Mark heads to Lebanon to get Drake so he can meet me and Gunner in Albany at his mom's. (Extra innings means Gunner and I left the field, in Corvallis about 7:30). My cell phone rings, it is the parent where Drake was..."Umm, we have a problem, he was accidently hit in the face with a foam bat while playing wiffle ball (WTF?, REALLY?, WIFFLE BALL!). It's not bleeding, but I think it needs stitches....HOLY CRAP....SO, Mark picks him and wants me to make the call about stitches. They meet us at his mom's and we pretty much decide it needs to be looked at. Well, urgent care closes at 9:00, guess what time it was, 8:59...We decide to head back to Lebanon and the emergency room. To make a kinda long story short, the doctor looks at it and tells us it is not soo bad, he can glue. We are thinking, sweet! Drake is excited, no stitches. Then we tell the Dr. that he is playing a baseball tourney this weekend (He is in full uniform because it was required to be worn to the varsity game, not sure why, but anyways!) the Dr. asks what position, uh, catcher....well, that changes things. The glue needed about 24 hours to "set" and if he didn't want to play bench warmer, then he need to be sutured. Again, to make a long story short, he ended up with 4 stitches in his eyebrow. He was really good though, did not cry and took it like a man, I think he had more anxiety over the thought of getting the stitches than actually receiving them.....We ended up leaving the ER after 10:30.........

Saturday morning, he is fine, a little swollen, will probably end up black and blue, but he played 2 great games. He even threw out a runner in each game trying to steal 2nd!! He also now has the nickname scarface. He just thinks he looks sexy. Definintely not the shy one! "GRRR, BABY!!!"

Needless to say, I have had about enough excitment for awhile. Drake has 2 more games tomorrow, for sure, possibly 3. Gunner has 4 games this week and then he is done, for the season and I am majorly stressing about the quilts!! I do believe there was more I was gonna say, but I am kinda tired and I think my brain is not functioning like it should.

All's well that end's well, I am kinda hoping for a boring day tomorrow :D

P.S. And to top it all off, I got to go spend $120.00 on piggie food for chewie jr!!

Look what I have been up to....

No, we have not fallen off the face of the planet!! Things have just been crazy busy around here!! Gunner is jsut finishing up baseball (2 more weeks) and Drake is just getting started. Gunner plays games 3 nights a week (weather permitting) and so far we have had 2 tournaments for Drake (plus one this weekend and then next weekend), he will start league games the week before Memorial Day, I think...Crazy Times!!

In between baseball games/tournaments and practice I have been working on some quilts (2 of which have to be COMPLETELY!! done by May 14th!)(Sorry for picture quality, these were taken on my cell phone)

The first one is a red/white/blue Warrior color one with baseballs. I sure wish this one was completely done. High school baseball in the spring is really, really cold some nights!! Ironically I had made 2 like this last year, but ended up donating them both and so I had none!!

This pink and brown was made with Jelly Rolls, that is my new obsession. It used to be fat quarters, but now it is Jelly Rolls. Have no particular usage in mind for this one, but Missy if you are interested, you jsut need to buy the backing and the batting, I can get you the measurements! Although, if I knew someone having a baby girl, it could be a baby gift..or it can sit with the rest of the quilt tops I have done!!

This one is for a wedding gift, I have actually been working on 2 pictures quilts for 2 weddings (same day, can you believe my luck!) I am pleased with how this turned out, like the black and white, I just hope the recipients like it as well!

This is the other wedding gift/picture quilt also needed for the 15th........
Oh darn, for some reason I can't get my picture to turn out :) I guess the mother of the groom will just have to be patient and wait to see the finished product. I do really like though the pink and the lavender in it, really sets off the colors in the pictures (especially the hunting ones!!).......... I will post a pic of it after the wedding though. I worked too hard and am too proud of it not to show it off!

Finally, we have a new addition to our family.......for those who don't know, Gunner is in FFA, for his project in Ag/FFA he decided he needed a pig, sooo, here is a picture of Chewy Jr....ain't she cute (she will look much cuter on someone's dinner table!). Gunner plans on raising her and showing her at the Linn County Fair in July. SOo if any one has any extra money, Chewy WILL be auctioned off at the Fair (Yes, I have no problem with that!!))....

That's about all I know for now, will try to post more often, or as time allows, better get ready to go pick up Drake from practice.........until next time!

Awesome Baseball Weather!

We had our 1st baseball tournament this last weekend in Medford. Was kinda concerned about it being too early (the team was only picked the Saturday before and they had one practice). It ended up being a really good weekend. The weather was just about perfect. I think on Saturday it was about 65-70 (see all the blue sky) and it felt sooo good to sit in the sun (would probably have gotten a tan on my face, but my back was to the sun). We won the 1st game (WOWSA!) by 1 run in an extra inning, good way to start. Lost the 2nd game Saturday, but that was ok. Won the 1st game Sunday and then lost the 2nd game, which was ok, because if we would have won, we would have played at 2:00 and then still had a 3 hour drive home Sunday afternoon. It was fine, we won 2 of 4 and that was better than we thought!!

Here is Drake getting the pre-season/pre-game pep talk from assistant coach dad :)......
He had some good plays. He has several throws to 2nd when a kid was stealing and came pretty darn close to getting them out. He did throw a kid out stealing 3rd base, that was sweet. He also tagged a kid out running home (he had another one that I swear the kid was out, but ump called him safe, where's the booth review when you need it.) He just looks soo small in his catchers gear/crouch...
He also "got" a home run. Notice I didn't say "hit" a home run. He hit a little blooper over the 1st baseman's head, it stayed fair, and he made it to first. We had a runner on 3rd, so the right fielder threw the ball to the catcher. The pitcher walks towards home plate to get the ball, next thing I know Drake is stealing 2nd. The catcher/pitcher (not sure which, happened so fast), threw the ball to 2nd to try to get Drake out. Then the runner on 3rd ran home. Not really sure what happened, but the infield was throwing the ball around and Drake ended up scoring. Kinda a funny way to get a home run, but hey a run is a run and it counted on the scoreboard, so that is all that matters! (We won that game!)
Overall a good baseball weekend. May we be so lucky to have them all be that nice!!Oh and the fields were AWESOME, Turf all the way!.......

Gunner has been practicing, don't have any pics yet, but I will trust me! He starts games on the 19th, can't wait to watch some high school baseball!

And last but not least, I really didn't post any pics from Drake's b-day. But a good time was had by all at the Globetrotters. Here's a pic of the motley crew outside the Rose Garden before the game started.........

You are officially a Tween today (Lord help me!).......... I know something to cry about!!!

I can't believe how grown up he is getting.....Today, for his birthday we are taking Gunner, Drake and 2 of Drake's buddies to Portland to the see the Globetrotters (That is what he wanted to do Kinda excited, Mark and I have both seen them when were younger (over at OSU). The boys have no idea what it is going to be like. I hope they put on a good show, but then how could they not. After we are going to dinner and then the boys are staying the night. Should be a little better than last year. Last year I had, I think, 8 boys (including cousin Tyler) that we took bowling and then stayed the night, WHAT WAS I THINKING!!.

Should be a good day! Will post pics after we get back (and of course I am passing up a quilting class to go to Portland, oh well, there will be others :D)
